(Updated at 9:35 p.m.) A new CVS Pharmacy is open at the revamped Central District Retail shopping plaza, also known as “Crystal Square,” in Crystal City.
The store opened on Sunday, Feb. 28, a JBG Smith spokesperson confirmed. It is part of a major redevelopment that the property owner has planned for a block of Crystal Drive between 15th and 18th streets.
In 2018, the County Board approved the project, which JBG says will blend retail, public spaces and transit services.

Visa undertakes to address competition concerns over debit card payments
The ACCC has accepted a court-enforceable undertaking from Visa AP (Australia) Pty Ltd and Visa Worldwide Pte Limited (together, Visa) in relation to concerns that Visa may have limited competition in relation to debit card acceptance through its dealings with large merchants.
“The ACCC was concerned that Visa’s strong market position in the credit card acceptance market could be leveraged to limit competition in the debit card acceptance market by tying the offer of cheaper strategic merchant rates for credit card transactions to a commitment from the merchant to process Visa branded dual network debit card transactions via the Visa network and not through eftpos,” ACCC Chair Rod Sims said.
WINNIPEG A Saskatchewan-based bus company is giving a route to Winnipeg another shot in the coming weeks. Rider Express is restarting its Winnipeg to Regina Service on March 19. The company aims to fill the void left behind when Greyhound stopped service in Western Canada. Rider Express previously ran the route to Winnipeg, but got rid of it due to low ridership. Omer Kanca, manager of operations with the company, now believes there is enough demand to support the route. “We wanted to try one more time, the route, because we know that there is a pent-up demand,” he said. “People are bored, they want to go out there and travel, and we’d like to be ready for that.”
